York Boxing Club FAQ
Q.) How old do I need to be?
A.) You can start at 7 years old in our popular GB Boxing tutor classes, and continue until 107 years old!
Q.) Am I fit enough to join?
A.) Yes, whatever your level of fitness all we ask is for you to do your best.
Q.) What equipment do I need?
A.) Suitable training clothes and footwear, bag or boxing gloves, hand-wraps and a bottle of water will get you started
Q.) Is boxing only for males?
A.) Defiantly not. Boxing workouts are ideal to complement the female form; it tones in all the right places and doesn’t build big muscles. All boxers and fighters are more effective with long toned muscles not large bulky muscles.
Q.) Are coaches qualified and police checked?
A.) Yes all coaches are CRB (Police checked) and qualified to ABAE (Amateur Boxing Association of England) standards.
Q.) Do I have to spar?
A.) No, most people don’t spar.
Q.) How do I become a boxing coach or volunteer?
A.) To become a boxing coach, you MUST be part of an ABAE club, hold a CRB, 1ST Aid qualification and work towards your first ABAE qualifications. All this can be arranged through us.
A.) As a registered charity we are always looking for volunteers to improve our services and offer something back to the community. Please contact us or talk to Lewis for details.
Q.) Can I park my car?
A.) Yes, although a warm up jog to us maybe the way to think!
Q.) I have no self confidence and feel nervous in joining!
A.) Please don’t let this stop you, joining us or any other sports club. Even some of our most confident boxers felt the same at some point. Taking the first step through the door was their biggest but most rewarding thing they did. First step maybe just picking up the phone or emailing us!
Q.) Can I sponsor a boxer or the club?
A.) All sponsorship is very welcome, please contact Lewis to discuss.
