York Boxing Club FAQ

Q: How old do I have to be to join?
A: Boxing classes start from age 10.

Q: Am I fit enough to join?
A: Yes, whatever your level of fitness just try your best.

Q: What equipment do I need?
A: Suitable training clothes and footwear, boxing gloves, soft crepe hand-wraps and a bottle of water.

Q: Are coaches qualified and police checked?
A: Staff are all volunteers, DBS checked and hold England Boxing coaching and judging qualifications, First Aiders, Child Protection and Safeguarding Qualifications, Child Sexual Exploitation Aware, Fire Fighting Martial regulated and have a designated Child Welfare and Vulnerable Adults Officer.

Q: Do I have to spar?
A: No, most people do not spar. If you want to: there is a route to follow, join in the Technique and Development class and become registered with England Boxing.

Q: How do I become a Boxing Coach or Volunteer?
A: Please ask or download our volunteer application form.

Q: Can I park my car?
A: The complex is privately owned and there are no parking facilities.

Q: Can I have private one on one coaching?
A: Yes, please ask at the reception desk for details.

Q: Can I become a sponsor of the club?
A: Yes, and thank you. The club’s charity is the Jack Raine Foundation and all sponsorships are through them, from sponsoring a boxer's training fees, providing equipment or offering support to the Child Sexual Exploitation Team.
