Shadow boxing
Remember when throwing a straight hand, do it fully extended......don't cheat your distance!!!!!!!!!
Always think toes not heels - maintain your stance - if your moving forward use the front foot first - moving back use your back foot first - toe and glide- toe and glide - small steps. Always keep one foot in contact with the floor at all times.
Basically, the objective is to maintain your solid foundation which is provided by the boxer's stance and when you move you take short steps, barely lifting your feet off the ground - it's more of a slide. You never cross over your feet and you never bring them close together.
Remember your front foot is your range finder.
To practise side to side movement, you need to learn one more thing, the pivot. To quickly change direction you need to pivot. Slightly turn your front foot first, then move your back foot into position to correct the stance and back to your solid base.
